Minute30.com .- The inhabitants of the Andalucía neighborhood experienced moments of panic on the morning of this February 1. Around 9:00 am, a strong conflagration broke out on 107th Street and 49A Avenue, affecting multiple homes and leaving several families on the street, surrounded by ashes and debris.
The emergency escalated quickly, forcing neighbors to come out with garden hoses in a desperate attempt to mitigate the flames before the arrival of relief agencies.
A tragedy that “was already feared”
The most shocking thing about this event is the origin of the fire. According to versions of the same occupants and neighbors of the sector, the fire would have been started by a relative of one of the residents. Those close to him indicated that the man suffers from severe psychiatric disorders and that there was already a latent fear that he could cause an emergency of this magnitude.
“We were already afraid that something like this would happen,” some neighbors commented as they watched the fire consume years of material effort.
Response of relief agencies
Given the magnitude of the fire, the intervention of four crews from the Medellín Fire Department was necessary, who worked intensely to control the hot spots and prevent the flames from spreading to more structures in the dense sector of Andalusia.
