The Colombian Federation of Education Workers (Fecode) confirmed that this Thursday, October 30, a 24-hour national strike will be held that will impact thousands of official schools throughout the country.
The marches will begin between 8:00 am and 9:00 am, depending on each city, and a broad participation of teachers and the educational community is expected.

The Fecode national strike, called in defense of the teachers’ health system, compliance with Agreement 003 of 2024 and the strengthening of public education, will have simultaneous mobilizations in the main capitals of the country.
In Bogotathe teachers will meet in the National Park from 9:00 am to march through the main roads of the city center.
In Medellinthe concentration will begin at the Adida headquarters (Calle 57 #42-70) at 9:00 am, from where the teachers will advance to La Alpujarra.
In Calithe mobilization will leave from the Universidad del Valle towards the Plaza de San Francisco, also from 9:00 am
Other cities with confirmed points are:
- Bucaramanga: Santander Park, 9:00 am
- Armenia: Bolívar Square, 7:30 am
- Ibague: Teacher’s House, 8:00 am
- Hunting: Fomag offices (Calle 24 with Carrera 12), 8:00 am
- Cucuta: Simón Bolívar Park, 8:00 am
- Santa Marta: Celedón High School, 8:00 am
- Florence (Caquetá): Versalles Sports Center, 7:00 am
Fecode assured that the strike will be peaceful and that it seeks to draw the Government’s attention to the crisis in the teachers’ health system and the need to strengthen the educational budget. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education announced the formation of an inter-institutional panel to address the union’s complaints.
Citizens are recommended to plan for road closures and congestion in assembly and march areas.
