Migración Colombia managed to detect and expel a Dominican citizen who tried to go through immigration services in Medellín using false Colombian documentation.
The operation took place in the Belén La Nubia neighborhood, in commune 16, where what seemed like a regular procedure ended up becoming an effective immigration control action.
The foreigner presented himself with his passport to complete a registration in the system, but the officers noticed inconsistencies in the documents displayed.

The alert led to a thorough verification, which included consultations with Colombian entities and organizations in the Dominican Republic, in addition to a detailed immigration interview. After this process, a serious offense was confirmed: the man had illegally obtained Colombian documents to try to pass himself off as a national.

Given this, Migration Colombia immediately proceeded to issue an administrative measure of expulsion and transferred the Dominican citizen to the José María Córdova International Airport, from where he was sent to his country of origin.
This case adds to a recent trend detected by the entity, where several Dominican citizens try to pass themselves off as Venezuelans to obtain fraudulent Colombian documentation and thus travel to countries that do not require visas for Colombians.
The authorities will reinforce immigration controls during the end-of-year season, when the flow of travelers increases and attempts at document fraud increase.
