The Bogotá Metropolitan Police reinforced security operations in high-traffic areas such as Zona T, Modelia and Galerías, in order to prevent the crime known as ‘millionaire walk’, a modality that continues to affect citizens, especially at night and on weekends.

The actions are led by the Police Gaula and are part of the comprehensive Bogotá Walk Safe strategy, in coordination with unions such as Asobares, taxi drivers’ associations and the Government, Security and Mobility secretariats. The main objective is to strengthen prevention and guarantee safe transfers for those who frequent these commercial and entertainment sectors.

During the days, uniformed officers carry out verification and identification of public transport vehicles, especially taxis, at strategic points previously defined as safe zones or yellow zones. These spaces allow citizens to board transportation under police supervision, reducing the risk of being victims of this crime.

In addition to the controls, the authorities provide self-protection recommendations to pedestrians, drivers and owners of commercial establishments. In the case of bars and nightclubs, the importance of directing customers to authorized points to take transportation safely is emphasized.

According to him, the intention is for citizens to be able to enjoy recreational spaces, but adopting basic security measures when moving around.

The figures support the need for these operations. During the year 2025, 27 cases of ‘millionaire walk’ classified as kidnapping were reported, which led to the capture of 52 people, of which 92% received an intramural security measure. Likewise, the authorities managed to dismantle five criminal structures dedicated to this crime in the city.

The Police reiterated the call to citizens to report any suspicious or criminal act through Emergency Line 123, remembering that timely information is key to strengthening investigations and combating this type of crime in Bogotá.
