Faced with DIAN’s charges to ECOPETROL for the payment of VAT tax on fuel imports that could pose serious risks to the company’s financial stability, the Attorney General’s Office called an emergency meeting to seek a solution to the tax dispute.
At the technical table, scheduled for November 19 and in which representatives from each of the entities will have seats, the new elements presented and the legal and doctrinal foundations of the ongoing actions will be analyzed.
The discussion arises from a difference in regulatory interpretation between ECOPETROL and the DIAN, which could lead to seizures of more than 11 billion pesos and an estimated impact of 22 billion pesos, affecting the financial balance and economic sustainability of the company and public assets.
The Attorney General’s Office reaffirms its commitment to legality, due process and the protection of the assets of Colombians, promoting preventive solutions that guarantee fiscal stability and institutional transparency.
