The Colombian authorities revealed new details about the capture of alias Gramo, identified as the mastermind behind the car bomb attack on the Marco Fidel Suárez military base in Cali, which occurred on August 21 and left seven dead and more than 70 injured.

According to the investigation, Anderson Tamayo, known as alias Gramo, would have coordinated, together with aliases Sebastián y el Mono, the transfer of vehicles loaded with explosives from Cauca to the capital of the Valley. He is also credited with verifying the site of the attack, escape routes and searching for a house used as a hideout before the attack.

After the explosion, the man tried to escape the country. According to intelligence sources, alias Gramo processed a passport and traveled to Spain with his romantic partner, but was denied admission on September 25.

After being returned to Colombia, he moved to Pereira and then to Mistrató (Risaralda), where he was finally captured by the authorities.

Investigations reveal that the detainee had been linked to the FARC dissidents for four years, under orders from alias Pablito, head of the Ricardo Velásquez column of the Jaime Martínez Front. In addition, it was discovered that he used the loan money “drop by drop” to finance terrorist actions, buy weapons and pay his accomplices.

During the operation, a cell phone with key information about his contacts and movements was seized. He is charged with murder of a protected person, attempted murder, terrorist acts, aggravated criminal conspiracy and illegal possession of weapons.

The Secretary of Security of Cali, Jairo García, highlighted that this result is the result of joint work between the Police, the Prosecutor’s Office and international cooperation: “Crime has no refuge. We will continue to strengthen intelligence capabilities to guarantee the tranquility of the people of Cali.”
