The construction of group 3 of the TransMilenio project along 68th Avenue continues to make significant progress. This section, which extends from Las Américas Avenue to 13th Street, includes an exclusive depression for articulated buses, a key piece for the future operational connection between Las Américas, 68th Avenue and groups 4 and 5 of the corridor.

According to the Institute of Urban Development (IDU), the project has already exceeded 70% of total execution, while the depressed (one of the most complex structures) reaches close to 80% of progress, after having been received at just 13% at the beginning of 2024.

“The depression is bidirectional and exclusive for TransMilenio. It is 480 meters long and there are already more than 300 meters built. We hope that at the end of February the two work fronts will meet”explained the director of the IDU, Orlando Molano, when delivering the balance of the project.

Among the works already completed is the total installation of the piles, structural elements that support the work from the subsoil, as well as the driving of sheet piles, steel walls that stabilize the ground and prevent earth displacement during excavation.

Currently, the work is concentrated on the construction of upper beams, first and second level excavations and the execution of the bottom slab in several modules of the depression.

According to the IDU, approximately 100 meters remain to achieve the complete junction between the section that advances from Avenida de Las Américas and the one that is built from Avenida 68.

Group 3 of TransMilenio Avenida 68 covers a length of 1.04 kilometers and includes the intervention of 23,911 square meters of public space, in addition to 7,228 square meters of green areas, with the aim of improving the urban environment of the sector.

The project also includes the construction of 0.84 kilometers of bicycle path, a pedestrian bridge that has already been put into operation and the construction of the TransMilenio station on 11th Street, where the assembly of the north and south cars, along with walkways and covers, is currently underway.

From the IDU they indicated that these advances will allow us to accelerate the schedule and get closer to the start-up of this strategic section of the mass transportation system in Bogotá.
