Deportivo Pereira officially announced that Rafael Dudamel has left his position as technical director of the professional team.

The news, which occurs in the midst of a deep administrative and financial crisis that is shaking the institution, was communicated through a brief announcement signed by the club’s president, Álvaro López.

The departure of the Venezuelan coach deepens the uncertainty surrounding the “Grande Matecaña” in one of the most delicate moments in its recent history.

The resignation of Dudamel and his coaching staff, as unofficially revealed, would be directly linked to the serious non-compliance with labor and salary payments that the club maintains with its professional team.

As will be remembered, due to this critical situation, the professional players have stopped competing and the team has had to face the League with under-20 youth players.

Deportivo Pereira deepens its crisis with the departure of Rafael Dudamel

Pereira’s statement was limited to expressing “most sincere gratitude” to Professor Dudamel for his “delivery, dedication and commitment.”

The crisis of the Risaraldense club is not limited to the sports field. The economic situation has escalated to the point of generating a sanctioning process by the Ministry of Sports for “alleged noncompliance with labor obligations.”

Furthermore, the situation has unleashed the indignation of the fans, who have expressed their discontent with protests and intimidating messages directed at the leadership, particularly President Álvaro López.

With the departure of the strategist who had a contract until 2026 and the latent threat of losing sporting recognition or sponsorship from the mayor’s office, Deportivo Pereira finds itself at a critical crossroads.
