In an event full of regional symbolism, presidential candidate Abelardo De La Espriella presented his ambitious roadmap for the agricultural sector from Aquitania, Boyacá. Under the motto of transforming Colombia into a “Country of Homeowners”, the leader of the Defenders of the Homeland movement announced shock measures that include 2% housing loans, the ‘Solidarity Harvest’ food security program and a frontal offensive against criminal economies.

A moral commitment to rurality

Accompanied by peasant communities in one of the highest municipalities in the country, De La Espriella described the historical abandonment of agriculture not as a management error, but as a “moral failure of the State.” The candidate stressed the urgency of activating the national agricultural frontier, pointing out that currently only 14% of the available land is cultivated.

“If the State performs the miracle of uniting the company with the countryside, we will kill hunger,” said the candidate during the Boyacense Rurality Meeting.

The 5 pillars of transformation

The “Tiger” proposal for the rural sector is structured into five strategic axes designed to increase the competitiveness and dignity of the producer:

Productive Ordering: Creation of a National Zoning Map to guide investment and reduce losses.

Education and Entrepreneurship: Technical training through SENA in more than 700 rural towns.

Innovation: Strengthening Agrosavia and promoting precision agriculture and biotechnology.

Development Financing: Accessible credits and simplification of procedures for small producers.

Legal Security: Effective land titling to ensure that the property is sustainable and productive.

One of the announcements that generated the most echo among attendees was the promise of rural housing loans at 2% with terms of up to 30 years, seeking to make the rural home also a center of entrepreneurship.

Security: “The bandit will not rule again”

De La Espriella was blunt in linking the prosperity of the countryside with public order. His rural security plan contemplates shock actions in the first 90 days of government against criminal leaders and the strengthening of strategic intelligence through international alliances with the United States and Israel.

“My battle is against those who extort, recruit and sow fear, not against those who work the land,” he stated, ensuring that the farmer will be protected as the “hero of the countryside” against the advance of illicit crops and drug trafficking.

The event closed with a message of firmness from the candidate, who reaffirmed his intention to turn Boyacá and the rest of Colombian rurality into the economic engine of the nation.
