The National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE) delivered the consolidated report on the behavior of the Colombian economy during the year 2025, confirming an annual expansion of 2.6%.
According to Piedad Urdinola, director of the entity, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) maintained a positive dynamic driven mainly by final consumption spending, which increased by 4.2%. However, the result was slightly below the expectations of some analysts and the Government, which projected a variation between 2.8% and 3.1%.
The report details that the performance of the economy was marked by three strategic sectors. Firstly, commerce, transportation and accommodation contributed 0.9 percentage points to the added value.

This was followed by public administration, health and education activities, with a growth of 4.5%. However, the most notable data came from the cultural and entertainment sector, which registered an expansion of 9.9%, consolidating itself as the area with the highest percentage growth during 2025.
Despite the general progress, the technical report also identified sectors with negative balances. Mining and quarrying suffered a contraction of 6.2%, while the construction sector recorded an annual drop of 2.8%.
Likewise, DANE reported on a revision in the figures from previous years: the growth of 2023 was adjusted upwards (0.8%), while that of 2024 was revised slightly downwards (2.5%).
Towards the end of the year, in the last quarter, the economy showed a variation of 2.3%, reflecting stable behavior but with persistent challenges in gross capital formation and investment.
