Moments of tension and fear were experienced on the morning of this Saturday, December 20, on the Cali-Buenaventura highway, after the authorities confirmed the presence of an explosive cylinder abandoned in the middle of the highway, near the sector known as Las PiƱas, in the jurisdiction of the municipality of Dagua, Valle del Cauca.
The situation forced the total closure of the road corridor in both directions, one of the most strategic routes for cargo transportation.
Specialized units of the National Police, together with anti-explosive personnel, immediately moved to the site to verify the device and secure the area.
After several minutes of evaluation, the experts determined that the object corresponded to a cylinder loaded with explosive material, so a controlled detonation was carried out, in order to eliminate any risk for drivers, residents of the sector and emergency personnel.

The operation was carried out without setbacks and, according to the preliminary report, there were no injuries or material damage.
During the procedure, dozens of vehicles were blocked on the road, generating prolonged traffic congestion and significant delays.
Once the technical work was completed, mobility on the Cali-Buenaventura highway was gradually restored, under police accompaniment. However, the authorities maintain a presence in the sector while investigations continue to establish who would be responsible for leaving the explosive device on this important road axis.
