The questioned official Laura Sarabia is once again in the eye of the hurricane, this time due to her recent landing in European territory. The Administrative Court of Cundinamarca confirmed that it will thoroughly study a lawsuit that seeks to overthrow her appointment as Colombia’s ambassador to the United Kingdom.
The document that the reporting magistrate admitted puts the magnifying glass on Decree 1029 of September 2025. According to the plaintiff, the National Government would have broken the rules by appointing Laura Sarabia to a very high-ranking position without her complying with the minimum requirements of the law.
The main “sin” that is read in the judicial text is the lack of command of the English language, something that is hardly logical for someone who must negotiate face to face with the British crown and parliament.

But the mess doesn’t stop there. The lawsuit maintains that the ambassador did not have postgraduate studies nor does she have the 25 years of experience in the consular service that the regulations require for those who do not belong to the diplomatic career.
“It is a jurisdiction where communication without interpreters is vital for sovereignty”warns the appeal that now has the Foreign Ministry rushing to explain how they sent to London someone who, allegedly, did not certify either a second language or the academic qualifications required for the position of ambassador.
