The Council of State once again pressured the Presidency of the Republic to deliver the documentation related to the controversial ‘tarimazo’, the event in La Alpujarra that left Senator Isabel Zuleta in the spotlight for her alleged role in the irregular departure of criminal gang leaders from the La Paz prison in Itagüí.

This is the third time that the high court has requested the information, which is key to the process of losing the investiture against the congresswoman of the Historical Pact.

According to the Court, the Casa de Nariño has still not delivered two essential documents: resolution 138 of May 29, 2023, with which the strategy known as Urban Peace in Medellín and the Aburrá Valley was installed, and resolution 452 of November 8, 2024, where the Government representatives were appointed in the Socio-legal Conversation Space.

Both files would allow us to establish who really had the power to request prison movements.

For the plaintiffs, among them William Quintero, Zuleta would have acted without jurisdiction by asking INPEC for nine leaders to leave to attend the event with President Gustavo Petro on June 21, 2025. According to Quintero, that task corresponded to the coordinator of the table, Jorge Iván Mejía Martínez, and not to the senator.

The case involves high-profile criminal names such as Douglas, Carlos Pesebre, Tom and Vallejo, all identified as historical figures of structures such as La Oficina de Envigado. His presence at the public event generated one of the strongest political scandals of the year.

The lack of documents on the part of the Executive keeps the investigation in suspense. The Council of State reiterated that it will only call the hearing when it receives complete information and can compare it with the other evidence in the process.

The episode of the ‘tarimazo’, which for the first time showed the president together with leaders of criminal gangs, continues to be a critical point for the Government, which is accused of hindering the delivery of key information.
