In a lightning operation that puts illegal trade networks in check in the southwest of the country, the Tax and Customs Police (Polfa) and the Dian managed to deliver a historic blow in the center of Cali.
Through the so-called ‘Operation Search Block’, the authorities dismantled a collection center where contraband merchandise valued commercially at around $7.9 billion pesos was hidden, a figure that exceeds two million dollars according to current rates.
The operation focused on a home that, under the guise of a common property, functioned as a gigantic clandestine warehouse.
During the search procedure, the uniformed officers assigned to the Cali Operational Control Division seized 77,825 units of illegal merchandise.
The seized loot includes thousands of pairs of footwear, clothing (clothing) and leather goods that did not have the documents required by customs regulations for their marketing in Colombian territory.

According to Dian spokespersons, this result is vital to protect the national economy and formal employment, since the entry of these products without paying taxes generates unfair competition that suffocates legal entrepreneurs.
“These types of actions strengthen tax collection and directly weaken the finances of criminal organizations that profit from illicit trade”said sources linked to the investigation.
After the procedure, the seized items remained in the custody of the competent authorities, while investigations are carried out to find the owners of the home and those responsible for this distribution chain.
This intervention adds to the Government’s efforts to shield the national industry from smuggling that enters through the main road corridors of Valle del Cauca.
