After an intense week of global qualification, the road to the FIFA World Cup 26 reaches a crucial milestone with the celebration of its final draw.
The event will take place this Friday, December 5, 2025 at the prestigious Kennedy Center in Washington DC
To date, 42 of the 48 participating teams have already secured their place in the final phase, including hosts Canada, Mexico and the United States, as well as powerhouses such as Argentina, Brazil, France, England, Japan and Senegal.
The last six places will be defined in March 2026, with four tickets coming from the UEFA play-offs and the remaining two from the Qualifying Tournament, in which teams such as Bolivia, Jamaica and Iraq still have options.
With the country waiting for the fate of the selection, the 48 qualified squads will be distributed into four pots of twelve teams each.
The draw will be guided by the FIFA/Coca-Cola Men’s World Ranking published on November 19, 2025.
The three hosts – Canada, Mexico and the United States – will top Pot 1 and will be assigned to predefined positions in the groups (Mexico to A1, Canada to B1 and the USA to D1).
The six places that are still in dispute will be automatically assigned to Pot 4.
The draw will begin with Pot 1 and continue in descending order, following a series of restrictions designed to ensure competitive balance.
Colombia waiting! Countdown to the FIFA 26 World Cup draw
The main one is the Confederative Restriction, which stipulates that no group will contain two teams from the same confederation, with the sole exception of UEFA, which will have a minimum of one and a maximum of two teams per group.
Additionally, a Draw Restriction has been established to prevent the top four teams in the world rankings from facing each other in the initial phases of the tournament, assigning them to opposite draws to ensure that they can only meet from the semifinals onwards.
With excitement at its peak, the 12 group configuration is ready to be revealed, marking the formal start of the countdown to the tournament to be held in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Live coverage of the draw will be available via FIFA.com, the FIFA World Cup social networks and its official broadcasters and media partners.
Millions of fans, especially in Colombia, will tune in to discover their team’s roadmap to glory at the 26th FIFA World Cup.
The official broadcast will begin at 12 noon.
