Just three days before the closing of the XX Bolivarian Games Ayacucho–Lima 2025, the Colombian delegation consolidated its dominance in athletics with an exceptional day that brought it six new medals: five gold and one bronze.
With this performance, the national delegation has accumulated a total of 12 gold, five silver and four bronze, figures that confirm it as the main power of the discipline in the current edition of the Games.
The winning streak began with the supremacy of the women’s delegation. Helen Tenorio won the first gold medal of the day in the high jump, reaching a solid mark of 1.89 m, while María Isabel Arboleda added a bronze to the tally with a record of 1.80 m.
Shortly after, Lina Licona had an outstanding performance in the 400 meter dash, winning gold with a time of 51.83. Finally, Colombian versatility shone with Damaris Palomeque, who won gold in the heptathlon with an advantage of more than 800 points over her closest rival.
The closing of the day was marked by the double victory in the 4×100 meter relay, confirming the excellent moment of Colombian speed.

The women’s team, made up of Marlet Ospino, Angélica Gamboa, Danna Banquez and María Camila Maturana, won with a time of 44.00.
Minutes later, the men’s quartet, made up of Deiner Guaitoto, Enoc Marun, Pedro Agualimpia and Ronal Longa, secured the fifth gold of the day with a time of 38.73.
The good news was complemented by the advance to the final of the 200 meters of Marlet Ospino, María Camila Maturana, Ronal Longa and Enoc Marun.
Despite the only adverse result with the disqualification of Bernardo Baloyes in the men’s 400 meters, Colombia concludes one of its most effective days in Lima.
The athletics delegation maintains a wide lead in the discipline’s medal table, with the possibility of further increasing its harvest of medals in the finals scheduled for the coming days.
The country reaffirms itself as a regional benchmark in Bolivarian athletics.
