Minute30.com .- In an important achievement for the protection of public resources, the National Government confirmed the recovery of a millionaire sum of money after the failure to comply with the maintenance contract for the MI-17 helicopter fleet.
The announcement was made by General Pedro Sánchez, who reported that this January 7, 2026, the National Treasury received the allocation of USD 20,079,552.55, coming from the guarantee policies applied to the company Vertol Systems Company Inc.
The breakdown of recovered resources
The financial operation, backed by the insurer Berkley International Seguros Colombia SA, is divided as follows:
Refund of the advance: 100% of the initial payment made by the State, equivalent to USD 13,586,872.47, was recovered.
Payment of fine (Policy): The insurer covered a part of the penalty for a value of USD 6,492,680.08.
Total income: More than 20 million dollars returning to the country’s coffers.

Despite this great progress, There is still an outstanding balance due to the fine imposed on the contracting firm. General Sánchez was emphatic that the country will not give up these resources:
“A direct executive charge will be made to the company for the remaining balance of the fine for a value of USD 2,463,788.27,” said the senior official.
