Colombia was proclaimed absolute champion of the weightlifting discipline at the XX Bolivarian Games Ayacucho – Lima 2025, after a spectacular final day at the 03 de la Videna Sports Center.
The national delegation closed its participation with an impressive total of 17 gold medals, 10 silver and 2 bronze, adding 29 medals in total, ratifying its continental dominance in this strength discipline.
The finishing touch to the competition was provided by weightlifters Marcos Bonilla and Rafael Cerro, who were crowned absolute champions in their respective categories.
Bonilla, in the 110 kg., began his path to gold with a snatch of 171 kg. and sealed his double with a clean and jerk of 212 kg. For his part, Rafael Cerro (+110 kg.) had no rival when he registered 188 kg. in the snatch and a spectacular Pan American record of 227 kg. in the clean and jerk.

Other great protagonists of the closing day were Yeinny Norela Geles, who won the gold in the 86 kg snatch. with 111 kg., in addition to a silver in the clean and jerk, and Yairan Tysforod (+86 kg.), who also contributed a gold in the snatch with 114 kg.
These triumphs are added to those achieved by other outstanding athletes such as Yeison López (88 kg.), Yenny Sinisterra (63 kg.), Julieth Rodríguez (69 kg.) and Mari Leivis Sánchez (77 kg.), who achieved the golden double (snatch and clean and jerk) in their categories.
The notable performance consolidates Colombia as a regional power in weightlifting.
The 17 golds obtained in Videna are the result of the commitment and dedication of a team that demonstrated its superiority on the platform.
This performance not only secures the Bolivarian title, but also establishes a solid foundation for future international challenges.
