With a robust delegation of 430 athletes, Colombia begins its participation in the 20th edition of the Bolivarian Games, which will take place in Lima and Ayacucho.

This event officially marks the beginning of the Olympic cycle leading up to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.

The national delegation is made up of a balance between experience and youth, with 182 female and 248 male athletes.

This group includes 34 athletes qualified for Paris 2024 and 53 who participated in the recent Junior Pan American Games in Asunción, reflecting a mix of competitive maturity and drive of the new generations.

The Ministry of Sports has supported this participation with a significant investment, allocating 4,816 million pesos for the delegation.

Likewise, an additional 14,439 million pesos for the preparation of athletes, who will compete in 45 disciplines.

Colombia begins its path to Los Angeles 2028 at the Lima – Ayacucho 2025 Bolivarian Games

David Acosta, director of Sports Positioning and Leadership of the Ministry of Sports, highlighted the strategic importance of the event:

“It is an important event because it marks the beginning of the Olympic cycle towards Los Angeles 2028 and as such, it allows us to evaluate and project the athletes who will be part of it.”

The national delegation arrives in Lima-Ayacucho with the weight of its recent history, having won the last three versions of the Bolivarian Games consecutively.

In the most recent edition, in Valledupar 2022, Colombia demonstrated its level by winning 354 medals in total (171 gold, 104 silver and 79 bronze), surpassing second place by 145 metals in the overall total.
