On the morning of this Monday, February 9, an air emergency shook the area around the municipality of Palmira. A PA-34 type aircraft, identified with the registration number HK-4754, crashed just five miles from the threshold of the runway at the Alfonso Bonilla Aragón International Airport, which serves the city of Cali.

The aircraft, which was carrying out an ambulance flight mission, had taken off from the Guillermo León Valencia Airport in Popayán around 9:22 am, and after 28 minutes of travel, it crashed to the ground in circumstances that are still the subject of investigation by the competent authorities.

Four people were traveling on the plane: the pilot, the co-pilot, a doctor and a pre-hospital care professional.

Despite the magnitude of the impact and the terror that the accident generated among witnesses in the area, the Civil Aeronautics confirmed in an official statement that all the occupants were unharmed.

The medical team and crew were rescued and assessed immediately, determining that they did not have serious injuries, which has been described by many as a true miracle given the conditions in which the structure of the aircraft was left when approaching the Airport.

Civil Aeronautics issued specific details about the operation, noting that communication with the Bonilla Aragón Airport control tower was maintained until minutes before the impact, which occurred at 9:50 am. Search and rescue units, as well as personnel from the aeronautical fire department, quickly moved to the scene of the incident to secure the area and prevent possible fires due to fuel spills.

The accident area remains cordoned off while air safety experts begin technical expertise to establish the causes of the fall.
