The Colombian Senior Women’s Futsal Team has written a new chapter of glory by qualifying for the Quarterfinals of the World Cup held in the Philippines, consolidating itself among the eight best on the planet.

Qualification was sealed with a resounding 4-1 victory over Thailand in a vibrant, high-intensity match played at the Philsports Arena in Manila. This achievement is the result of determined performance and an effective strategy throughout the group stage of the competition.

The national team demonstrated from the opening whistle its firm intention to secure a place in the next round. With high and constant pressure, the Colombian players made it difficult for the Thai players to get the ball out, quickly taking over the rival field.

The reward for this strategy did not take long to arrive: in the 4th minute, after a great collective play, Diana Celis opened the scoring after a pass from Valentina Rodríguez, unleashing joy in the tricolor delegation.

The Colombian superiority was maintained, and just two minutes later, at minute 6, Merlín Salcedo extended the advantage, making the score 2-0.

Thailand reacted and managed to score in the 11th minute, taking the score to 2-1 at half-time and leaving uncertainty in the air. However, in the second half, the Colombian National Team took the field with the same determination, and it was again Salcedo who scored the third goal, giving the team peace of mind and leading to the final victory.

The coup de grace came from the feet of Valentina Rodríguez, who scored the fourth and final goal of the match, confirming the 4-1 victory and securing the ticket to the Quarterfinals of the 2025 FIFA Women’s Futsal World Cup.

Colombia’s results in the group stage were: 2-0 victory against Canada, 1-5 defeat against Spain and a 4-1 victory over Thailand. This balance allows the tricolor to continue dreaming of the maximum orbital event.

Now, Colombia’s challenge is raised by facing a South American classic in the round of the eight best. The National Team will face Argentina for a place in the Semifinals.

The momentous commitment will be played next Monday, December 1 at 5:00 am (Col Time).
