The new documentation extracted from the devices seized from alias Calarcá reveals a web of contacts, trips and negotiations that directly involve General Juan Miguel Huertas, director of the Army Personnel Command, and Wilmer Mejía, a DNI official. In one of these revelations, an Asian businessman identified as Jixing Zhang appeared.
The investigation disclosed by Noticias Caracol details that the Chinese businessman would have visited dissident camps in Catatumbo, Caquetá and southern Bolívar. The evidence includes photographs, chats and business cards where Zhang appears as a director of several industrial and import companies in China.
In some images he appears smiling alongside alias Richard Catatumbo, one of the most powerful dissident leaders in the north of the country.
The intercepted chats show explicit conversations about war weapons. There, mortars, 81-millimeter grenades and even the installation of a new weapons factory with state-of-the-art machinery are discussed.
In a fragment of the chats, alias Catatumbo tells Calarcá: “When my friend comes, I’ll send him some bombs, his beauty.”to which the second responds: “a beauty.”

The Chinese Embassy in Colombia reacted cautiously. Ambassador Zhu Jingyang stated on his X account that he will not comment “before verifying the situation and receiving details from the relevant authorities”. The diplomatic headquarters also announced that the case will be reviewed by its economy and trade office.
On the political level, the images and documents have generated strong controversy. Presidential candidate Vicky Dávila questioned the Prosecutor’s Office for the lack of progress in the investigations related to the files of alias Calarcá, which would also refer to possible links with high military commanders and political figures.
The appearance of businessman Zhang adds an international element to the security crisis in Colombia, expanding the scope of investigations and exposing the sophistication of the criminal interests that surround dissidents.
