The capital of the Atlantic will dress up to receive a historic event. At the Extraordinary Congress of CONMEBOL held in Lima, Peru, the election of Barranquilla as the venue for the unique final of CONMEBOL Sudamericana 2026 was made official.
The decision was made unanimously by the CONMEBOL Council, granting the “Golden Gate of Colombia” the vote of confidence to host the decisive match.
The president of CONMEBOL, Alejandro Domínguez, highlighted the election:
“It was deliberated and, unanimously, we have decided to give the vote of confidence to Barranquilla to host the unique final of Sudamericana 2026. We are sure that the choice has been correct and that we are going to enjoy it.”

This milestone makes Barranquilla the first city in Colombia to host a continental final with the single-match format, implemented by CONMEBOL to define its champions.
The setting for this great event will be the Roberto Meléndez Metropolitan Stadium, the home of the Colombian National Team, which is preparing to host thousands of fans from the continent.
The stadium, with a current capacity of around 46,600 spectators, is planned to be modernized and expanded to meet the international standards required by the sports organization.
