Moments of tension and fear were experienced on the morning of this Saturday, November 8, in the Prados de Alcalá neighborhood, in Tunja, after the discovery of an abandoned dump truck that, according to preliminary information, would be loaded with explosives.

The incident occurred near the Simón Bolívar Battalion of the National Army, which immediately activated a maximum alert by the authorities.

The National Police and the anti-explosive group deployed an extensive operation in the residential area. According to initial reports, around 8:20 in the morning, loud explosions were heard; To date, it is unknown if they correspond to controlled detonations.

The discovery generated collective panic and congestion in the north of the city, while the authorities closed access roads to facilitate the control and security operation.

Given what happened, the authorities maintain the alert level throughout the city of Tunja and surrounding municipalities, especially in the vicinity of military installations.

So far there are no injuries or significant structural damage.
