Two men, aged 24 and 33, with an alarming criminal record, were released by a guarantee judge, despite having been captured by the Police in the San Francisco sector, in Ciudad Bolívar, while they were traveling in a van that had been reported stolen.

The court decision has generated deep concern and indignation among residents and local authorities.

The chase began when CAI uniformed officers identified the truck, previously stolen in San Cristóbal. Upon noticing the police presence, the occupants tried to flee, but were caught thanks to the active support of the community. During the procedure, one of the detainees had to be transferred to a medical center to receive assistance.

What has generated the most controversy is the extensive criminal record of the two involved. Between them, they have more than 17 notes for different crimes. The youngest, 24 years old, has seven records for qualified theft, domestic violence, personal injuries and constraint. His companion, 33 years old, has accumulated ten records for theft, trademark falsification, personal injuries and drug trafficking.

Despite the forcefulness of the arrest in flagrante delicto with the stolen vehicle and the seriousness of their antecedents, a guarantee judge decided to release them.

This measure has raised alarm among authorities and residents, who warn about the risk of recurrence and the negative impact that this type of decision has on the security of the town of Ciudad Bolívar.

The authorities reiterated the call to citizens to continue reporting criminal acts through the 123 emergency line.
