A man accused of participating in a violent assault against a couple in Cali was sent to jail while the investigation against him progresses. This is Leider Lozada, captured by the National Police and presented before a guarantee control judge.

The events that gave rise to the process occurred on July 19, when two men traveling on a motorcycle intercepted a couple waiting at a traffic light while traveling in their private vehicle. The assailants, according to the Prosecutor’s Office, used what appeared to be a firearm to intimidate the victims and force them to hand over their belongings.

During a search and search procedure carried out by Sijín in a home in the Lleras Camargo neighborhood, the authorities issued the arrest warrant against Lozada Escobar. In the procedure, three firearms, ammunition, jewelry, a vehicle and nearly 50 million pesos in cash were seized, elements that were made available to the judicial process.

The Prosecutor’s Office charged the detainee with the crimes of qualified and aggravated robbery, in addition to manufacturing, trafficking, carrying or possession of firearms, accessories, parts or ammunition. Lozada Escobar did not accept the charges.

After reviewing the elements presented by the prosecuting entity, the judge determined that the defendant must comply with a security measure in a prison center, considering that his freedom represents a risk to the community and the progress of the investigation.
