The Mayor’s Office of Cali confirmed new nighttime hours for the city during the end-of-year season, a measure that seeks to accompany the increase in tourism, commercial activity and nightlife typical of December.
Mayor Alejandro Eder announced this Wednesday, December 10, that the decree has already been issued and authorizes bars and nightclubs to operate until 4:00 am between December 19 and January 12.
As the president explained, the adjustment responds to the increase in visitors, cultural events, concerts and recreational activities that characterize the end of the year in the capital of Valle del Cauca.

For other night establishments that are not classified as bars or nightclubs, the operating limit will be 1:00 am.

The announcement comes after protests by night sector owners, who blocked Calle 5 and Carrera 5 alleging that they were being forced to close an hour earlier than allowed.
Although they claimed to have authorization to operate until 3:00 am, they stated that several operations required closures at 1:00 am, which generated tensions and a strong road backup in the center of Cali.
With the issuance of the new decree, the Cali Mayor’s Office seeks to give clarity to merchants, organize the operation of the night sector and guarantee safe operation during the Christmas and Fair seasons, dates when nightlife historically takes off in Cali.
