Atlético Huila has confirmed a historic change in its trajectory, announcing its official transfer of headquarters to the municipality of Yumbo, in Valle del Cauca.

This significant move was unanimously approved by the Assembly of the Major Division of Colombian Football (DIMAYOR), after the club presented the formal request.

The main reason given by the board is the impossibility of continuing to compete at the Guillermo Plazas Alcid stadium in Neiva, which made the continuity of the sports project in the Huila capital unsustainable.

The club’s board has stated that this has not been an easy decision, being fully aware of the profound impact it will have on the city of Neiva and, especially, on the fans who have provided unconditional support over the years.

However, they emphasize that the decision was made from a perspective of responsibility, seeking the long-term viability and sustainability of the sports project.

This change, they affirm, guarantees the continuity of the team and the development of all its divisions in the best operating and infrastructure conditions.

In the statement issued, the now Valle del Cauca club extended extensive gratitude to those who accompanied them in this transition process.

The effort of the team and collaborators, who dealt with months of uncertainty, was recognized, as well as the empathy of other clubs, institutions and sports media.

In a special way, we thanked the municipality of Yumbo and the Government of Valle del Cauca for opening their doors to the project, facilitating this new chapter in the team’s history.
