The Mayor’s Office of Medellín, through Buen Comienzo, announced the delivery of more than 17,000 educational kits aimed at pregnant women, lactating women, girls and boys who are part of the family modality of the program.
This initiative seeks to strengthen bonds, sensory stimulation of early childhood and the well-being of women during the end of the year break.
The director of Buen Comienzo, Diana Carmona, explained that the design of the kits is specific and adapted to the development of each beneficiary. In addition, each kit will include a guide so that families or caregivers know how to use each element.

Kits designed for each stage
The pedagogical kits are segmented by stages of development:
- For pregnant women: It will include a tennis ball, a massager and almond oil, elements designed to promote their physical well-being and the stimulation of the baby.
- For children from 0 to 6 months: A visual stimulation card will be given.
- For children from 6 to 12 months: They will receive a wooden musical instrument known as Caja China, seeking to encourage musical expression.
- For children 12 to 36 months: They will be given a drum to help them advance cognitive development, exploring body language, playing, and managing emotions.
Additionally, all families of Buen Comienzo girls and boys will receive a food package. The program will continue to strengthen attention in the territories with mobilizations and the Nourish to Heal, Heal to Grow line.
