The Buen Comienzo program will guarantee the care and protection of thousands of girls, boys and pregnant families in Medellín during the Christmas and New Year break.

With an investment of more than $6,000 million, the mayor’s office ensures food continuity between December 17, 2025 and January 19, 2026, despite the pause in in-person care.

This measure will allow enrolled minors to receive food and educational packages to guarantee their overall well-being during the Christmas season.

For this reason, in December more than 100 social mobilizations will be carried out in communes and townships, aimed at accompanying families, reinforcing protective environments and ensuring access to institutional offerings. All under a strong message that marks the essence of the program: “Hunger does not come on vacation.”

During the break, the “Care, our best move” strategy will also be strengthened, focused on promoting emotional bonds, creativity, play and teamwork with girls, boys and pregnant or lactating families. These activities seek to reinforce comprehensive development and emotional support.

In addition, the ‘Nourish to Heal, Heal to Grow’ program will continue to be active for the immediate attention of cases of child malnutrition. The line 604 385 5555, extension 9896, will be available to report situations that require professional intervention in order to prevent risks of acute or chronic malnutrition.
