A control operation carried out by the Cali Metropolitan Police allowed the seizure of 2,480 doses of marijuana that were moved covertly in a taxi-type vehicle, in events recorded in the José Holguín Garcés neighborhood, to the east of the city. During the procedure, two people were captured and placed at the disposal of the judicial authorities.

The action took place in Commune 11, when uniformed officers assigned to the Police Attention Zone stopped the car for a routine check. Inside the vehicle, the police found two suitcases containing 18 packages with the narcotic substance, which, according to preliminary estimates, would have a value close to 30 million pesos in the illegal market.

The people traveling in the taxi were identified as a 21-year-old woman and a 55-year-old man. According to the first investigations, the shipment would have been picked up in the El Vallado neighborhood and its transfer was planned under the parcel modality from the sector known as Terminalito, in the north of Cali. The authorities are advancing the investigation to establish the final destination of the drugs and possible connections with micro-trafficking networks in the city.

After the procedure, those captured, along with the vehicle and the seized cache, were presented to the Attorney General’s Office. In a guarantee control hearing, a judge ordered an intramural security measure against the woman, while the man was released, although he will continue to be linked to the criminal process for the crime of manufacturing, trafficking and possession of narcotics.

This result is part of the territorial control strategies carried out by the Police in Cali to counteract micro-trafficking and reduce the circulation of drugs in the city’s neighborhoods.
