After an afternoon marked by uncertainty and tension, it was recently confirmed that the retention of more than 1,500 public servants in the National Administrative Center (CAN) is ending.

The protesters belonging to the Association of Community Councils of Northern Cauca (ACONC) decided to lift the blockades that kept the exits of entities such as the Ministry of Education and DANE closed, allowing employees, who remained trapped for more than six hours, to finally leave the facilities.

The news of the end of the retention comes after a critical day in which the District and the workers themselves reported attacks and the use of extreme pressure methods to attract the attention of the National Government.

Although the protesters have allowed the doors to open, the CAN area continues to have a strong presence of authorities and difficulties in mobility, while it is verified that all officials have been able to leave their offices without affecting their physical integrity.

For now, the Ministry of the Interior is expected to confirm whether the release of access is the product of a preliminary agreement to establish the work table that the communities demanded.

The more than 750 members of the Afro-descendant and peasant delegations, who arrived from Cauca, remain in the vicinity under the monitoring of the Government Secretariat, while the city slowly recovers normality.
