The Attorney General’s Office began a preliminary investigation against the mayor of Sincelejo (Sucre), Yahir Acuña Cardales, for facts related to possible acts of corruption in the School Feeding Program (PAE) during 2025.

The investigation began after a video published in a media outlet in which the president was shown explaining the details behind the PAE business and the way in which million-dollar bribes have been obtained with resources from this program, which, apparently, would be paid to the investigated person, by the supplier, after advance payment of the workers’ payroll.

The Public Ministry seeks to establish whether irregularities have occurred within the framework of this state program, apparently due to demands for the payment of gifts and unjustified increase in assets.

The control entity requested the taking of evidence to clarify the reported facts under investigation.
