A few weeks before the end of 2025, the Animal Welfare Center (CBA), of the Cali Mayor’s Office, confirmed that there are still free spaces for Cali residents to sterilize their dogs and cats. This is a key service for the health of pets and responsible control of overpopulation in the city.
The District Administration, headed by Mayor Alejandro Eder, continues to respond to citizens with concrete results: to date, the CBA has carried out more than 9,600 sterilizations, an important figure that reflects the commitment to animal welfare and public health.
“Mainly, what we try with these sterilizations is at the behavioral level, for females and males. We prevent, for example in felines, that they do not escape us and that they arrive with infectious and viral diseases such as AIDS and leukemia. We can also avoid pathologies related to mammary tumors, tumors at the level of the prostate and the reproductive system and endometritis, commonly known as pyometra,” explained veterinary doctor Tatiana Fajardo.
Recommended ages to sterilize
“We recommend that you can bring pets from 6 months to 6 years of age to our sterilization mobile. But if they are over 6 years old, they can come to the main CBA facilities and we do the entire process at the consultation level to schedule it,” the professional guided.
The Animal Welfare Center reiterates that there are still spaces available and that sterilizations will continue until the agenda is exhausted.
“We have done approximately 9,000 sterilizations and again we want to invite the entire community to come: there are still places. We are in December, but we still have places. You can come for free,” emphasized Tatiana Fajardo.
