The construction of the First Line of the Bogotá Metro, the most important infrastructure project for the city’s mobility, continues to advance with works on Caracas Avenue. As part of this process, the temporary Calle 57 station, enabled to maintain the continuity of the TransMilenio service while the viaduct is being developed, will partially close starting Tuesday, February 3 to allow the lifting of segments that make up the elevated structure of the new line.
Closure details and alternatives for users
The station will remain out of service at night during the week and full days on weekends, in order to allow work at height to progress: Monday to Friday between 11:00 pm and 4:30 am, and from 10:00 pm on Friday to 4:30 am on Monday.
While these works are carried out, travelers who normally use the temporary station Calle 57 will be able to take the shuttle service at the temporary stations Marly and Flores, located to the north and south of this corridor on Caracas Avenue, respectively. However, the pedestrian crossings at the north and south entrances to Calle 57 will continue to be enabled, allowing the safe mobility of pedestrians in the area.
Metro works and temporary stations
The decision to temporarily close this station is part of the strategy to advance the construction of the Bogotá Metro without completely interrupting the public transport service on the Caracas Avenue trunk. To this end, the Bogotá Metro Company (EMB) has implemented a network of temporary stations since 2025 at different points of the corridor – such as on streets 34, 39, 57, 76, as well as on Marly and Flores – that allow users to continue traveling while the definitive stations are being built under the metro viaduct.

These temporary stations are designed with structures reused from previous stops and have the necessary technical conditions for passenger safety, as explained by the general manager of the EMB.

Meanwhile, authorities recommend users plan their routes in advance, check closing times and available alternatives, as well as use official digital tools—such as the TransMiApp application—to optimize their travel during the intervention phases.
With these works, the Line 1 project continues its march towards becoming a fundamental axis of capital mobility, seeking to reduce travel times and offer more efficient transportation alternatives for the inhabitants of Bogotá.
