After recording an unprecedented demand of 20 million ticket requests during the random selection phase, the governing body has confirmed the creation of a special ticket category.
This initiative will allow fans of qualified teams to access their teams’ matches in a much more affordable way.
Under the name of “basic stand”, this new category establishes a fixed price of 60 USD for any of the 104 matches of the tournament, including the grand final.
The main objective is to support the most loyal fans, allowing them to follow their teams throughout the competition in Canada, the United States and Mexico without cost being an insurmountable barrier.
The management of these tickets will be in the hands of the Participating Member Federations, who will be responsible for defining the allocation criteria.
FIFA has stipulated that 50% of the total allocation for federations must correspond to the most economical categories, 40% for the “affordable stand” and 10% for the new “basic stand”.

Furthermore, in a gesture of support for the fan economy, FIFA will not charge administrative fees on returns for those fans whose teams do not make it past the group stage.
Global interest in the first 48-team World Cup is massive. Since the start of the random selection process on December 11, applications have reached 20 million, driven by the recent publication of the official calendar.
Fans have until Tuesday, January 13, 2026 to register on the official platform and participate in the draw, regardless of when they make their request within the deadline.
Finally, FIFA recalled that, as a non-profit organization, it will reinvest 90% of the income generated in this 2023-2026 cycle to promote the development of men’s, women’s and youth football in its 211 member federations worldwide.
