A rapid and effective military operation managed to thwart a high-impact action by the National Liberation Army (ELN) in the strategic corridor that connects CĂșcuta with Pamplona.

In the afternoon hours of December 14, the National Army deployed specialized troops who managed to neutralize a dangerous explosive device installed by the guerrilla in Norte de Santander.

The first images of the operation, released to the public around 1:00 pm, showed the meticulous work of the anti-explosive units. The official report from the Army’s Fifth Brigade confirmed that the intervention of the Public Force prevented a large-scale tragedy, reducing the imminent risk for hundreds of travelers.

The threat had materialized within the framework of the ‘Armed Strike’ decreed by the ELN, generating anxiety and paralysis in regional transportation.

Thanks to military intervention, the reestablishment of vehicular traffic was achieved in the Los Pinos Toll area, on the CĂșcuta-Pamplona highway. However, the tranquility is partial: the Public Force reported that the road corridor continues under strict surveillance.

A permanent Army presence is maintained along the route to prevent the installation of new terrorist devices and guarantee the security of mobility.
