The Skate Park Tercer Milenio in Bogotá witnessed a milestone in Colombian sports history by hosting the First National Interleague Skateboarding Championship.
This was the first event of this type since the discipline was formalized as a federated sport in the country.
In this inaugural competition, which brought together the most prominent leagues, the Antioquia delegation established itself as a dominant force.
The department attended with fourteen athletes and achieved the overall runner-up position in the contest.
The Antioquia subtitle was forged with high-level individual performances, which translated into a harvest of gold medals crucial for the general classification.
The main protagonist in the male branch was Juan Esteban Garcés, who won two gold medals.
Antioquia shines in the historic debut of National Skateboarding
The first in the Open Street modality with a score of 59.03, and the second in Open Park with 44.00, beating his Bogota rival Jhan Carlos González.
The women’s branch also contributed a decisive victory with the triumphant return of Jazmín Álvarez, who won the third gold medal for Antioquia.
Thanks to these results, the Paisa delegation secured second place in the general classification, surpassing Risaralda, which took third place, and only being surpassed by the host, Bogotá, which took the overall title of the Interleague.
With the success of the First Interleague, the sights of Antioquian skaters are now set on the international level.
Jazmín Álvarez and Mateo Moreno will now focus their preparation on the upcoming Ayacucho 2025 Bolivarian Games in Peru.
Both athletes will represent Colombia, which will have a total of four skaters in the event, carrying with them the momentum and experience acquired in this historic national competition.
