The Mayor’s Office of Medellín, together with the Metropolitan Police of the Aburrá Valley (through the SIJIN), carried out a forceful operation against organized crime that operates in the city, achieving a decisive blow to structures dedicated to local drug trafficking.

The operation was carried out through five simultaneous raids in different parts of Medellín, resulting in the capture of eight people: five by court order and three in flagrante delicto.

Police actions not only focused on micro-trafficking, but also on dismantling a network that handled stolen weapons and vehicles. The results of the seizures were:

  • Armament: Three 9 millimeter caliber pistols, six suppliers and 143 cartridges were seized.
  • Drugs: More than 1,200 grams of illicit drugs, including marijuana, cocaine and amphetamine.
  • Vehicles: Three vehicles reported stolen were recovered and two motorcycles with altered license plates were seized.

In addition, the authorities found mobile devices, cash (presumably the product of the sale of narcotics) and various elements used for dosing and packaging drugs.

With these results, the Mayor’s Office of Medellín and the Metropolitan Police reaffirm their commitment to the frontal fight against multicrime structures, reinforcing security and control of the territory to protect the life, honor and property of citizens.
