The mayor of Medellín, Federico Gutiérrez, confirmed that a US citizen was not admitted to Colombia after an international alert was registered that identified him with records of sexual crimes.

Through his official account on X, the local president expressed: “Go home! Thanks to the work articulated with Migration Colombia, a US citizen who registered as a sexual offender was inadmissible. With this action, there are already 51 people inadmissible so far this year. We continue working so that these predators do not set foot in our city. Here we protect our boys and girls.”

The case became known after a coordinated operation between Migration Colombia, the National Police and INTERPOL, which made it possible to detect the presence of the foreigner during the reinforced immigration controls at the José María Córdova International Airport and other entry points into the country.
