The Attorney General’s Office, in coordination with the Dijín of the National Police, presented this November 1 to alleged members of a network dedicated to human trafficking and international trafficking of women who, according to the investigation, convinced them with job offers, took away their passports and forced them to provide sexual services in Bahrain to pay off an alleged debt of 10,000 dollars.

The operation, led by the Special Directorate against Human Rights Violations of the Prosecutor’s Office with the support of the Dijín, allowed the capture of three people in proceedings carried out in Cali and Pereira.

The detainees, identified as Keila, Wluender and Enrique, were presented before a guarantee control judge, who imposed security measures in cases that warranted it.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the victims, Colombian and Venezuelan, were contacted with promises of employment and trips that included payment for tickets and visa procedures. Upon arriving in Bahrain, the women, in at least three cases between July 2023 and October 2025, were allegedly detained, stripped of their documentation, subjected to mistreatment and forced to pay off the alleged debt by providing sexual services.

The modus operandi also described the demand for periodic payments as payment for the debt and threats to report them to the authorities if they did not accept the conditions.

The Prosecutor’s Office charged the three captured with human trafficking and aggravated criminal conspiracy; none accepted the charges.

The judge determined that two of the defendants, of foreign nationality, must remain in a prison while the process progresses; The third was left with a security measure in his place of residence.

The authorities indicated that the trafficking network would have alleged members abroad who would have received the victims and coordinated the exploitation.
