The Movistar Arena in Bogotá, a venue traditionally reserved for large concerts, became the epicenter of Abelardo de la Espriella’s presidential pre-campaign this Monday, November 3. The event was described as a resounding success, with reports indicating the presence of more than 15,000 followers of the lawyer and now political leader, achieving a full house at the Carrera 30 complex.
From the early hours, an impressive turnout of citizens, identified as “Defenders of the Homeland,” gathered to express their support for the candidate. The attendees, who packed the three floors of the Arena, celebrated the call that De la Espriella himself has described as “organic”, ensuring that its success is due to popular fervor and not to traditional political strategies of carry.
The day was marked by an atmosphere of strong opposition to the current Government. The public chanted continuous harangues in favor of De la Espriella and, at several moments, they openly went against the Government of Gustavo Petro. The followers also created a vibrant visual game using the flashlights of their cell phones, transforming the place into a sea of lights.
The meeting not only attracted the grassroots, but also a varied group of special guests. Relevant figures from national and international politics, as well as personalities from entertainment, gathered at the venue, which underlines the extensive network of contacts and the media reach of ‘Tigre.
The central message of the event remained firm: combat corruption, defend traditional values and restore security in the country, recurring themes of the ‘Firms for the Homeland’ movement. With this demonstration of force in one of the largest stages in the capital, De la Espriella seeks to translate the high call into real support and measure his weight within the Colombian political spectrum.
