Minute30.com .- Social networks and the popular imagination were ignited by impressive images: a majestic glow that seemed to emerge “even above the clouds” of the Nevado del Ruiz Volcano. This phenomenon, which alerted the population of Manizales and generated speculation about a possible eruption, turned out to be an amazing natural spectacle, according to the Colombian Geological Service (SGC).

Contrary to initial fears, the SGC confirmed that the observed glow was not the product of a volcanic eruption. Instead, it was the effect of lightning from a distant thunderstorm reflecting off a dense layer of clouds near the volcano. This play of light and shadow created an optical illusion that amazed those who managed to witness it.

The phenomenon occurred between 6:45 pm and 7:15 pm on June 25, leaving unforgettable postcards for observers. Despite the spectacular nature of the event, the SGC reiterated that the Yellow Alert () for Nevado del Ruiz remains, indicating changes in the behavior of the base level of the monitored parameters, but without evidence of an imminent eruption.
