This Tuesday, February 10, Colombian skier Fredrik Fodstad completed his second performance at the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games.

On this occasion, the national athlete competed in the classic sprint event, which took place at the Tesero Cross Country Ski Stadium.

Fodstad faced a large group of 94 athletes in a modality that requires maximum speed in short courses, less than 1.5 kilometers, under the classic technique.

During the qualifying round, where the runners started with 15-second intervals, the Colombian representative maintained a constant pace.

Upon crossing the 800-meter mark, he recorded a partial time of 2:07, and finally completed the total course with a time of 3:41.28.

This record placed him in 83rd position in the general classification, leaving him outside the group of the 30 best times that entered the direct elimination rounds.

The demand of the Olympic level was reflected in the difference of +33.91 that Fodstad had with respect to the leader of the qualifier, the Norwegian Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo.

Klaebo himself confirmed his favoritism in the final stages by winning the gold medal with a time of 3:39.74, beating the American Ben Ogden and his compatriot Oskar Opstad Vike, who completed the podium with silver and bronze respectively.

After this performance, Fredrik Fodstad is now preparing for his next challenge on Italian territory, which will take place next Friday, February 13.

On that day, the Colombian will compete in the 10 kilometer individual freestyle test, a competition that will begin at 5:45 in the morning Colombia time.

Under the interval start format, the objective will be to set the fastest time possible on the stopwatch to climb positions in the long-distance classification.
