Bogotá is still astonished after the tragic accident that occurred last Wednesday, February 4, in the San Luis neighborhood.
A woman of approximately 58 years old lost her life after being hit by a high-end truck that, according to the official report of the Traffic Police, ignored the red light of a traffic light at the intersection of 63rd Street and 17th Street.
What has moved citizens is the story of eyewitnesses, who claim that the victim, upon seeing the vehicle projecting towards them, managed to push his two grandchildren, aged 6 and 11, managing to save their lives seconds before the fatal impact.
The accident, captured by security cameras, occurred when a black BYD truck, model 2026, first collided with a 22-year-old motorcyclist, who is torn between life and death at the Clínica Nueva, and then crashed into a pole and hit the elderly woman.

The mayor of Bogotá, Carlos Fernando Galán, deeply regretted the incident and assured that the judicial authorities are making progress in the investigation to determine the criminal responsibility of the driver.
The truck involved, which is listed in the name of a third person, had all the documents in order, but reckless driving by not respecting the traffic light took the life of a woman who today is remembered as a heroine on the streets of Teusaquillo.
