A forceful blow to the finances of drug trafficking structures was recorded in the last hours in the port corridor of Barranquilla.

In a routine inspection, units of the Traffic and Transportation Police intercepted a tractor-trailer that, under the guise of a legal shipment of coke-type coal, was hiding a million-dollar shipment of cocaine hydrochloride.

The operation ended with the capture of the driver in flagrante delicto and the seizure of approximately 200 kilograms of the illicit substance.

The vehicle, a tractor-trailer that had started its route in the city of CĂșcuta, was profiled by the uniformed officers at a checkpoint located between races 5 and 6.

What caught the attention of the authorities was the sophistication of the hiding place: the drugs were camouflaged in modified compartments within the fuel tanks of the car.

The captured person, a citizen who already had judicial notes for lack of food assistance and false trademark, intended to enter the merchandise directly to the port of the Atlantic capital for subsequent shipment abroad.

The Transit Directorate warned that controls in strategic corridors and port areas have been intensified to stop the use of cargo vehicles in criminal activities.
