The authorities in Medellín do not give truce to criminal income in the southwest of the city. In the last few hours, a lightning operation allowed the dismantling of a narcotics collection center in the heart of the Antioquia neighborhood. The search and seizure procedure, led by the National Police in conjunction with the SIJIN, the Prosecutor’s Office and the Mayor’s Office of Medellín, made it possible to directly affect the finances of the Common Organized Criminal Group (GDCO) that plagues this sector.
During the judicial procedure, the uniformed officers managed to capture in flagrante delicto a subject who was guarding the property. However, what caught the investigators’ attention the most was the discovery of a sum of money: $35 million pesos in cash, allegedly the product of the sale of narcotics.

Additionally, in this procedure, seven kilos of marijuana, various elements used for dosing and a cell phone that will be key for technical intelligence investigations were seized.
According to the official report, the property seized was not just any point of sale, but rather functioned as a logistics center for the storage of substances in large quantities.
From there, the criminal group coordinated the distribution to different vice “plazas” in the sector, facilitating the constant traffic that affects the tranquility of the neighbors.

This coup adds to the offensive launched on January 21 in the same area, where a surprise operation ended with 19 arrests and the seizure of 16 kilos of drugs.
Both the captured person and the money and narcotics were placed at the disposal of the Attorney General’s Office.
With these actions, the mayor’s office and the public force seek to suffocate the operational capacity of the local gangs, ensuring that the operations and territorial control will be maintained indefinitely in this critical point of the city.
