This Tuesday, February 3, a dump truck loaded with ramp-type explosive devices was activated in the La Arboleda neighborhood, specifically in the sector known as the GualĂ crossing, on the road that connects Villa Rica with Caloto.

The detonation, which was heard for several kilometers around, occurred near a National Army base, in what the authorities have described as a direct attempt to hit the troops of the 29 Brigade.

According to the official report delivered by the Third Division of the Army, it appears that the criminal action would have been perpetrated by members of the residual ‘Dagoberto Ramos Ortiz’ structure, belonging to the FARC dissidents.

The institution’s command confirmed that there are no reported injuries to military personnel or impacts to the civilian community.

After the attack on the road, the troops immediately activated reaction protocols and deployed additional units to secure the perimeter and rule out the presence of other devices on the road.

The National Army strongly rejected this attack and assured that offensive operations in municipalities such as Caloto and El Tambo will be intensified to neutralize illegal armed groups.

For now, the passage through the Villa Rica-Caloto highway remains with restrictions while explosives experts finish the verification work.
