Colombian cyclist Sergio Higuita consolidated an outstanding performance in Asian territory by being crowned runner-up of the tenth edition of the AlUla Tour 2026.
After five intense days of competition in Saudi Arabia, the national runner stopped the general timer at 17 hours, 23 minutes and 58 seconds, leaving him just 15 seconds behind the champion of the event, the Swiss Jan Christen.
The final day, held this Saturday, January 31, united AlUla Old Town with the demanding Skyviews of Harrat Uwayrid viewpoint on a 163.9 kilometer route.
Despite facing adversity after suffering a fall halfway through the course, Higuita demonstrated his resilience by recovering and crossing the finish line in sixth position, giving up 32 seconds to the stage winner, Jan Christen, who won with a time of 03:36:05.
The path to the podium for the Colombian had its highest point during the third stage, held last Thursday between Winter Park and Mountain Wirkah.

On that 142.1 kilometer route marked by the harshness of the mountain, Higuita launched a decisive attack in the final meters seeking victory, achieving a valuable third place behind the Swiss Yannis Voisard and the Portuguese Afonso Eulálio, a result that was fundamental for his aspirations in the general classification.
Finally, the honor roll of the Arab competition was led by Christen, followed by the consistency of Higuita in the second box.
Regarding the last stage, the podium of the day was completed by the South African Byron Munton and the Spanish Igor Arrieta, who accompanied the Swiss on a day that reaffirmed the great form of the Antioquia cyclist at the beginning of the international season.
