In a forceful response from the authorities against crimes that violate the integrity of minors, the National Police captured a 42-year-old man in Medellín in the last few hours.

The subject is being investigated as the alleged perpetrator of an abuse committed against his stepdaughter, a 15-year-old teenager, in a home in the Santa Cruz neighborhood.

The arrest was carried out by means of a court order after coordinated work with the Attorney General’s Office and the support of Medellín.

According to the case file, the person involved had a three-year romantic relationship with the minor’s mother and enjoyed the trust of the family unit. However, investigations indicate that, taking advantage of a moment when he was in the care of the young woman, the man allegedly committed the abuse by touching the victim’s private parts.

After the complaint and the collection of physical and testimonial evidence, a guarantee control judge endorsed his capture to answer for the crime of violent sexual act.

The captured person was left at the disposal of the Prosecutor’s Office, where the judicialization stage is progressing to determine the security measure in the prison.

The Medellín Mayor’s Office highlighted that this operation is part of the comprehensive strategy to protect family environments, where unfortunately a large part of the attacks against children and adolescents occur.

The authorities called on the community to continue using the care routes and report any suspicion of abuse or inappropriate behavior against minors.
